This is the third peer preview in Pub 101 that I will be posting. This third peer review will be written about Alyssa Pacamarra's (2023) (blog.http://msdearlife.com/ )
This peer review will analyze design, content, marketability, and audience. Campbell (2009) argues the importance of cyberinfrastructures, and how it creates identity and important information for a user online. When I first opened Alyssa's (2023) website, I saw a picture of blueberries on the home site, and her posts are clearly labeled. The personal blog is like a personal infrastructure of the user where they choose to share about themselves or something they are passionate about and it’s either for entertainment or business (Campbell, 2009; Basu, 2020). Alyssa's (2023) is a personal blog, and the blog seems to be about her personal life and personal relatable everyday struggles people encounter. Basu (2020) discusses how a blog is a digital garden that is being cultivated by the user and shows the growth of the user. Alyssa's (2023) blog is about personal life and growth, which is a concept found in a lot of personal blogs. Kissane (2013) discusses how the online world continues to reshape and redefine journalism, especially blogs, news blogs, and story blogs. Alyssa's (2013) blog is like an online diary and storyboard, sharing about her university life.
Alyssa's (2023) blog has a great design, using simple colors such as light purple and white, which are colors that relate to the blueberries on her front page. I noticed there are a lot of light colors, such as light purple, white, light green light pink, and light yellow used for some of the posts. The size 16, black font choice is comfortable to look at and easily readable. I also realized the font choice is similar to my blog, it seems to suggest to me this font is a usual choice for personal bloggers. Alyssa's (2023) blog has good marketability because she knows who her audience is and what her blog is for. The design and posts all seem to suggest her audience is university students and other people.
Michael Warner (2002) defines the public and counter publics online in his reading. A public is self-organized and creates a sense of belonging (Warner, 2002, p.415). A lot of Alyssa's (2023) posts create a sense of belonging because viewers can relate to a lot of the stories or situations she posted on her blog. Alyssa's (2023) public audience seems to be everyone, mainly students in universities of all majors who are studying hard and need a good story or a good laugh.
